Claude Code from your iPhone.

Every way to steer Claude Code from an iPhone or iPad, compared on the same terms.

Updated November 2, 2026 · Late Sun Studio

Claude Code doesn't run on the iPhone itself. Your phone steers a session that runs somewhere else. There are three places that session can run: Anthropic's cloud (cloud sessions in the Claude app), your own computer through Anthropic's built-in Remote Control, or your own computer through a third-party app or an SSH terminal. If you have a Claude plan and one computer, Remote Control is the simplest way to start. It's free and built in.

This page compares each option on the same terms: which agents it runs, whether it handles many computers, price, setup, and limits. We make Halfday, one of the options, so we've kept its row as plain as the others. Corrections are welcome at support@latesun.studio.

Can I run Claude Code on my iPhone?

Not locally. Claude Code needs a computer with a shell, your repository, and your tools. Every option below gives you a window onto a session running on a computer, and they differ only in which computer and how you reach it.

How do Claude Code cloud sessions work on iPhone?

Open the Code tab in the Claude app and start a session. It runs in an Anthropic-managed virtual machine that clones your repository from GitHub, and it keeps running after you close the app. It's the least setup of any option here, and it's included with Pro, Max, and Team plans. Cloud sessions count against your plan's usage like any other Claude use.

The trade-off is that the session doesn't see your computer. Your local tools, databases, logins, and uncommitted files aren't there. Cloning and opening pull requests also require GitHub.

How does Claude Code Remote Control work?

Remote Control connects the Claude app, or claude.ai/code in any browser, to a Claude Code session running on your computer. In a project folder, run claude remote-control, and since August 2026 the computer shows up as a device card in the Code tab. Tap the card, pick a folder, and a session starts there. To carry on a session you're already in, type /remote-control. Claude can push a notification to your phone when a long task finishes or needs a decision.

Why it's a good default: it comes from Anthropic, it's included with Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, and it works on iPhone, iPad, Android, and the web.

What to know: it runs Claude Code only, and API-key logins aren't supported. The claude process has to keep running on the computer. Close the terminal and the session goes offline until you bring it back, and Anthropic suggests tmux if you started it over SSH. While it's connected, the session transcript is stored on Anthropic's servers to keep your devices in sync.

What about Happy and Paseo?

Both are free, open-source apps that wrap more than one coding agent.

  • Happy runs Claude Code, Codex, and Grok, with iOS and Android apps, a web client, and a desktop app. Install it with npm install -g happy, then start happy claude or happy codex in place of the usual command. It describes its sync as end-to-end encrypted, and its relay server is in the same repository.
  • Paseo runs Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and others. It has Mac, iOS, Android, desktop, and web clients. Its daemon can run on a laptop, a home lab, or a cloud machine, and you can connect through its end-to-end encrypted relay, your local network, or your own tunnel such as Tailscale.

They're a good fit if you want several agents and like running open-source tools yourself.

Can I just SSH in from my phone?

Yes, and plenty of people do. Put Tailscale on the computer and the phone (the free Personal plan covers up to 6 users and unlimited devices). Install an SSH app such as Termius (free tier) or Blink Shell ($19.99 a year after a two-week trial). Both support Mosh for patchy connections. SSH in, start tmux, and run claude or any other agent inside it.

It costs almost nothing and works with every agent. You're reading a terminal on a phone screen, though, and nothing taps you on the shoulder when the agent is waiting on you.

Where does Halfday fit?

Halfday by Late Sun Studio is an app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that runs Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode on your own computers, with your own Claude or ChatGPT plan. You add a Mac by installing Halfday and signing in, and a Linux server with one command. You can also rent a cloud computer from inside the app. Every computer appears in one list with what its agents are doing.

From the phone you can:

  • start a task in a sentence, typed or spoken,
  • answer questions and approve steps,
  • read the changes,
  • get one notification when a pull request is ready to land.

Agents run in the background, so there's no terminal to keep open. Halfday can also bring in the Claude Code and Codex conversations already on a computer. Teams share computers, a vault for the keys agents need, and drives.

What to know: Halfday is invite-only today. The Mac app comes with an invite, and the iPhone and iPad app is in App Store review. The apps are for Apple devices only, with no Android or web client. Your computers have to be on for the work to run, the same as with Remote Control.

What if I use Codex too?

OpenAI has its own version: the ChatGPT mobile app can steer Codex on a Mac or Windows PC that you pair from the ChatGPT desktop app. The computer has to stay awake and online. Among the options above, Happy, Paseo, SSH, and Halfday run both Claude Code and Codex.

Which option fits you?

  • You want zero setup and your code is on GitHub: cloud sessions in the Claude app.
  • One computer, Claude Code only: Remote Control. Start here.
  • You live in the terminal: SSH plus tmux over Tailscale.
  • Several agents, and you like open source: Happy or Paseo.
  • Several computers (a Mac mini or two, a laptop, a cloud computer), Claude Code and Codex together, and a team sharing them, all in native iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps: Halfday.
